What is CSCA?
China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) is a standardized test designed for international students who plan to pursue undergraduate degrees in China.
Organized by China Scholarship Council (CSC) and jointly developed with experts from Chinese universities, CSCA assesses students’ language proficiency and academic readiness, helping them better prepare for undergraduate studies in China.
CSCA is also an important reference used by Chinese universities in their admission and scholarship evaluation processes.

Which CSCA tests are you required to take?
The China Scholastic Competency Assessment includes Professional Chinese, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
Professional Chinese Test
● The Professional Chinese is divided into two categories: Humanities Chinese and STEM Chinese. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must take the Professional Chinese Test in the category corresponding to their intended program.
● Applicants for English-taught programs are not required to take the Professional Chinese Test.(Applicants for the Chinese Language and Literature program may be exempted from the Professional Chinese Test if they can provide a valid HSK Level 4 score report.)
Fundamental Subjects
Mathematics Test
● Mathematics serves as a key criterion for assessing applicants' foundational academic ability and logical thinking skills. Mathematics is a mandatory subject for all applicants, regardless of their intended program.
Physics and Chemistry Test (Elective)
● In principle, applicants for programs in science, engineering, agriculture, or medicine must take at least one of the these two elective subjects.
(Note: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are offered in both Chinese and English. Test-takers may choose the test language according to the requirements of their intended university.)
